Gery Essenmacher began his collaboration with Prof. Shakhashiri as a teaching assistant in the 1970s. He received his PhD from UW-Madison in 1976, and from there went to work for Dow. He returned to the Chemistry Department in 1984, and worked as Undergraduate Chemistry Coordinator until he became Associate Dean in the College of Letters and Science in 2010. He retired in 2015.
In the Fall of 2016, he joined WISL to assist in launching SCIENCE IN MOTION. We are lucky to have him with us... again!
Gery lives in Middleton with his wife Maureen and enjoys gardening, camping, and cooking. He has three grown children with families and enjoys his grandchildren, who always want to “do some science experiments.” |
