Gil Haight

1922-2015

Gil was my postdoctoral research advisor (November 1967 - June 1968).

Gil supervised my first academic teaching appointment as a young faculty member
(Fall 1968 - Summer 1970).

Gil introduced me to the great tradition Michael Faraday’s Christmas Lecture.

Volume 1 of my CHEMICAL DEMONSTRATIONS: A HANDBOOK FOR TEACHERS OF CHEMISTRY book series is co-dedicated:
To Gil Haight who taught me the art of presenting demonstrations.

Gil’s influence along with my rich experience at Illinois helped shape several dimensions of my professional career.

Gil was an erudite punster.

Gil was my mentor and my good friend.
